Last weekend…

we were invited to a weekend away for our friends birthday.

We’ve only known her for a year and a half and so we didn’t know anyone else going.

The easy option would have been to politely decline.

Save the awkwardness, or the potential to feel uncomfortable.

But what if we connected with really awesome people?

And had a super enjoyable time?

We definitely wouldn’t gain anything by NOT going.

Eventually we decided to step out of our comfort zones and accept the invitation.

Are we glad that we did!

We had an amazing weekend.

Her family and friends were all so lovely, and turns out most of the friends didn’t know each other either, so we weren’t the only ones!

It was really special to celebrate her birthday with her and we felt very honoured to have been invited.

We were reminded how crazy us humans are…

for allowing our insecurities to get in the way of living our best life.

‘Not knowing anyone’ is one of the concerns that our guests have when contemplating our Here and Now Retreat.

It’s uncomfortable to go somewhere when you don’t know anyone else going.

A little scary perhaps.

We get it!

But stepping out of our comfort zones can often lead to experiences that change the course of our lives forever.

Besides, most people don’t know anyone else coming.

We know you will have a LOT in common with the other attendees and feel right at home in no time at all.

In fact, most of our retreat participants always report that one of their favourite parts of the retreat is the people they met and the overall dynamic of the group.

We know that our retreats are one-of-a-kind.

We know that they are life-changing.

And for those of you who have that little spark inside of them which says: “wow…imagine what difference it would make to me”, then we want to support you in coming along, no matter what concerns you might have.

So we thought we would anticipate a number of them and share some answers below.

  1. I’ve only just started meditating, won’t a retreat be too advanced for me?
No. As you will have seen in the retreat video, our previous attendees’ prior meditation experience ranges from 0 to 15 years. The first thing we do on the retreat is teach everyone a self-directed effortless meditation technique which you use throughout the retreat and beyond.
  2. I’ve been meditating for over 15 years, aren’t I beyond retreats?
No! Our co-hosts of the retreat, Walter Bellin and Robert Meredith (who have been meditating for over 50 years) strongly recommend attending two retreats a year, no matter how long you have been practicing. The stress relief and self-awareness that occurs on a retreat is worth months and months of daily meditation practice.
  3. What does the format of the retreat look like?
Essentially, it is a combination of seated meditations, walking meditations, eating meditations, and coaching sessions to debrief the meditations and assist in your growth journey.
  4. Will a retreat change who I am?
You definitely won’t change the productive parts of yourself. If anything, you will rid yourself of the unproductive aspects. You will uncover what no longer serves you and begin to express more of your full potential.
  5. How will I feel at the end of the retreat?
Relaxed, at peace, clear-headed, centred, empowered, and inspired.
  6. What is the food like?
All meals are vegetarian, ranging in different cuisines, and prepared fresh using produce from the garden. They are absolutely delicious and another favourite for the participants!
  7. What are the rooms like?
All rooms have an ensuite and are super comfortable. They have a ‘winter cabin’ vibe to them.
  8. I don’t drive, how will I get there?
We will attempt to find someone who lives near your area to give you a lift. Or, you are welcome to take the train to Picton (15 mins away) and we will collect you from there. The retreat centre is 1hr10mins from the Sydney CBD in Wilton.
  9. I can’t take time off from work.
We are happy to write your boss a letter detailing how the retreat will positively impact your work. We have had participants in the past whose work even paid for them to attend.
  10. I can’t afford it right now.
We would hate for this to be your only obstacle. Please speak to us about a payment plan and we will work something out together.
