In this short clip: ‘Are you working to live or living to work?’, our favourite spoken-word poet, Prince Ea, encourages us to: “Take short trips with no distractions; Spend time in meditation instead of aggravation. Replace our screen savers with sun rises, and our palm pilots with palm trees”.

Last year, we got half way through the year and discovered we had been working non-stop without a break and were desperate for some time off! We realised that unless we actively stop and make it happen – it won’t! So at the end of last year we sat down and scheduled in a few trips that worked with our crazy schedules and would force us to take regular breaks throughout 2018.

So as you read this….we are actually sailing in the Whitsunday Islands! It’s a dream that Kevin has had for a very long time which we finally decided to realise! He won an auction for a cheaper rate on a sailing boat (another perk with booking ahead).

What about you… do you have any upcoming trips planned? According to a research study published in Translational Psychiatry (Nature), holidays help the body repair and recover on a cellular level. No matter what your budget, you can always make something work for you!

As Prince EA says: “We all need time to get away from the race, for the sake of our mental state. To re-wind, re-charge, and re-connect”.
